How to Make your computer
start faster.
1. Click on Start, then Run and type
MSCONFIG (doesn’t have to be capitals). Click OK.
2. Go to the Startup tab and look for blank entries with a checkmark
beside it. Uncheck that as well as qttask, msmsgs, itunes as shown below.
However do leave the ones checked below .
3. Click OK and reboot.
NEXT:
1. Open Windows Explorer, right click on the C: drive, select
Properties,
2. Go to TOOLS tab and click FIX ERRORS button.
3. Select first checkbox and a warning will come about doing this upon next
reboot, accept it.
NEXT:
1. Open Windows Explorer again if closed, right click on the C: drive,
select Properties,
2. Go back to the TOOLS tab and click DEFRAGMENT NOW button.
3. Once done, reboot the computer and let it do the Fix Errors selection you
picked earlier.
NOTE: If at any time you suspect a
virus, go to
http://housecall.trendmicro.com to do an online virus scan.
If you are unable to do any of the above steps, reboot, keep pressing F8
- but don't hold after it reboots, pick Safe Mode with Networking
from the menu and try from there.
